Blown Away: Hugo's Fury

Hurricane Hugo wrecked the Charleston area. The storm surge, a wall of water 18 feet high, washed houses into the ocean and left others soaked with mud. The national forest lost 75 percent of its trees to Hugo's 135-mile-per-hour winds. Every resident had a story of survival. More than seven years later, storms like Hurricane Opal still make people nervous.
